Howard Mell, MD, MPH, FACEP, CPE
EMS Medical Director
Dr. Mell received his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Medicine at Rockford. Prior to that, he received a Master of Public Health degree emphasizing Environmental and Occupational Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago, School of Public Health. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Mell is Board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and subspecialty Board certified in EMS. He is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and he is a Certified Physician Executive through the Certifying Commission in Medical Management/American College of Physician Executives. He serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Illinois at Urbana. He is also the EMS Medical Director for the Newark (OH) Division of Fire.
